EB Elections!!!

Hurrah!!! We have an EB!!

On Tuesday we held elections and it was a great success!! We had 9 applicatants, all of whom were brilliant, and now we have a team of 6 Presidents that will lead AIESEC Hull on to bigger and better things... We will stand up and make AIESEC listen!

In OGX we have Hanna, who's happiness and general attitude is something to behold. Hanna is German and was the president of an international society in her home country...

In BD we have Johannes, a Mauritian with experience of working with business. Northerners will remember him as delegate of the day at BHEANS!!

In EP, we have Shan, a Londoner born and bred. Shan is clearly motivated and easy to work with, so expect big things

In TM we have Philippos, a Cypriot who served as a commando!! despite this he is motivated to develop our talent into something that can really make a difference.

So there we are, brief introductions, and below are some of the better pics from the elections (more to come)

Miles Hilton-Barber

'The only limit to your dreams is the five inches between your two ears'

Yesterday, James and Ade attended an enterprise event hosted by the city of Hull. It was held in the Guild Hall in old town, which is incredible!! Its nicer than Parliament!!

The main guest speaker at this event was the most inspirational man that I've ever had the honour of shaking hands with. This man has walked to both poles, climbed Mount Killamanjaro, flown a microlight aircraft from London to Sydney (!). This man ran across the Gobi desert with burnt feet, and holds the record for driving around the Malaysia Grand Prix Circuit.

And this man, this maveric of human spirit, perseverance and determination, is blind.

Miles shows us that anything is possible if you want something bad enough. Its a lesson that you will have been told many times, but in the form of this excitable and friendly blind man takes true visceral form.

Dream, Decide, Plan, Persevere. Follow these steps and you can acheive anything!

Opportunity

Hey all,

'Opportunity' is this years buzzword. It encompasses everything good about the AIESEC experience, and represents what we aim to offer to our members. Opportunities are what define us as individuals; we all have opportunities given to us, some take all opportunities, some select the important ones, and some don't take the opportunities at all. What opportunities are you taking?

AIESEC will provide these opportunities, but it is down to YOU to accept these, to roll with them and turn opportunity into experience. After all, what else does AIESEC exist if not to give you the experiences, so we can convert those experiences into something worthwhile for us as individuals. So take those opportunities, and make something of your year...

Over the year, we'll be writing about some of the key ideas behind AIESEC and our LC... We'll also hopefully place some profiles of our international network, so that you can see some of the people across the world that make AIESEC what it is!!

BHEANS Regional Conference!!

Heres a brilliant opportunity for all AIESEC Hull members... BHEANS conference 2008!!

BHEANS is the first opportunity to meet people from all across our region, which includes the north of England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland!! You'll learn lots more about AIESEC, get to see a little of bonny Glasgow, and get lashed with the lovely Strathclyde ladies....

The conference is on the 25th and 26th October, too short a time for such a great conference...

The cost is 20 pounds, and for that you will get accomodation, food on Saturday and lunch on Sunday!! Bargain!!

If this sounds like an exciting prospect, then contact me and we'll get you registered

James

Welcome!!

Ok, so a new year starts and a new blog is opened...

AIESEC in Hull is on a renaissance. We are on the move. By the end of the year, AIESEC Hull will be comparable to the best LC's in the country... My pride tells me so :P

So how are you going to do this, AIESEC Hull?

  • By giving our members the best experience possible

  • By creating new opportunities never before offered to members of AIESEC in Hull

  • By initiating relationships with our brilliant international network and other AIESEC UK members

  • By representing at national and international conferences

  • By helping to create a sustainable LC for the future

We are making moves already, so check back on our progress and lets make this the best year for AIESEC Hull ever!!!!
